Wow, I had so much fun shooting the Lincoln Railer Boys Basketball team this past week as they progressed through the Regional Championships. Great basketball, but the lighting is terrible in the Bloomington High School gymnasium. It is some of the worst I have seen all season, and that includes Lanphier!!! Ouch... I had to compensate by using my 50mm f/1.4 a lot more than I am used to. Had to bump up the ISO's as well. Any time I used an f/2.8 lens I had to shoot at 2000 ISO with the aperture wide open just so I could keep my shutter speed at respectable levels. Even then, I had to increase the exposure on almost every photo when I got back to Lightroom to do my post-processing. Hopefully the gym at Mt. Zion, where the Sectionals are taking place, will have superior lighting. I guess I will have to adapt if they don't.
One thing is for sure, I can't wait until the OUTDOOR spring sports begin their regular season. SOOOO much easier to shoot in good light. I am really looking forward to capturing baseball and track. Once again, I can't wait.
